DEPARTMENT ORDER No. 1 ELECTION AND DEPARTMENT HEADQUARTERS
Linn P. Hoadley, Commander It is a great honor to have been elected and installed as the Commander of the Department of California & Pacific by the delegates assembled at the 118th Department Encampment in San Luis Obispo, CA on March 20, 2004. I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this office and I look forward to working with you to further our Order's efforts in tribute to those who answered President Lincoln's call to "Save the Union" between 1861 & 1865. I hereby establish my residence in the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, and State of California, as the Department Headquarters. Correspondence on any matters are most welcome and encouraged at any of the above listed contacts, or at the Department Post Office Box, P.O. Box 664, Gilroy, CA 95021-0664. Best regards to all, in Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty as we begin another year in our unending efforts to maintain the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) and to promote public pride toward all who honorably served the Union between 1861-1865. DEPARTMENT SPECIAL ORDER No. 1 CHAPLAIN
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Department of California and Pacific, by the Department Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Brother Edson T. Strobridge, of Camp 21, is hereby appointed Department Chaplain pro tempore for purposes of serving as Department Chaplain in the absence of Department Chaplain Ernest Powell at the 119th Annual Department Encampment to be held in San Luis Obispo, California on March 11th and 12th, 2005. The foregoing Department Order is proclaimed this 28th day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred twenty-ninth, in the City of Gilroy, County of Santa Clara, State of California by Tad D.
