The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a patriotic and educational organization, similar to the Grand Army of the Republic. It was founded on November 12, 1881 and incorporated by Act of Congress August 20, 1954. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the legal heir to and representative of the Grand Army of the Republic.

The Gen. U. S. Grant Camp No. 9 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) was established on June 16, 2004, and was named for the local Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) post of the same name and number. The Gen. U. S. Grant Post 9, GAR was in turn named for Gen. Ulysses Simpson Grant (1822-1885).

  • MEETINGS: 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of odd numbered months at the Quality Communications Building, 422-B Coffee Road in Modesto, California.

  • DUES: Annual dues are $26.00.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a 501(c)(4) organization and is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as an organization to which tax deductible gifts can be made pursuant to Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
