ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS

 

By the authority vested in me as Commander of Phil Sheridan Camp 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1: Having been duly elected Camp Commander, it is with the great appreciation and humility that I assume command of Phil Sheridan Camp 4. It is my sincere commitment to serve this camp in the mold of those great Camp Commanders who have come before me and to leave this Camp in ever greater esteem upon the completion of my term. I will work to merit the honor you render me in my efforts to promote and preserve not only our camp, but the cause of all who revere what those who went before us have sacrificed. I hereby establish my residence in the City of Auburn, County of Placer, State of California, as the Camp Headquarters. Series 2012

COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

 

By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1: I hereby establish the following eight (8) Standing Committees of the Camp for calendar year 2011 in accordance with Article XVI, Section 1 of the Camp Bylaws: Membership; Program, Publicity and Policy; Graves and War Memorials; Bylaws; History; Ceremonial Observances; Military Affairs; and Visitation. The Standing Committees shall consist of a chair and as many members as deemed necessary.

Section 2: The following Camp Brothers are hereby appointed as chairmen for each of the Standing Committees of the Camp:

  • Membership: Jr. Vice Commander: Br. John E. Stolp
  • Program, Publicity and Policy: Sr. Vice Commander: Br. Stephen P. Aguirre
  • Graves and War Memorials: Br. John E. Stolp

Section 3: The chairmen of each Standing Camp Committee shall select the membership of their respective committees.

ENDORSEMENT OF BRO. TAD CAMPBELL FOR JVC-IN-C

 

By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Insofar as Phil Sheridan Camp 4, Department of California and Pacific voted unanimously to endorse the Candidacy of Tad Campbell for the position of National Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief, we ask that this endorsement be read to all Brothers attending the 126th Department Encampment, held on 9 and 10 March, 2012.

Section 1: Brother Campbell has been a driving force in the promotion of Camp 4 for many years, going above and beyond to recruit, retain, and encourage others to become active members in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Section 2: Brother Campbell has personified the ideal of Brotherhood and set the standard for scholarship, dedication, and knowledge of the past and present organization.

Section 3: Brother Campbell has prepared himself for the position of National Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief by being elected and appointed to serve in a variety of leadership positions at Camp, Department and National levels.

Section 4: Brother Campbell has shown a great understanding of and support for the GAR and the Allied Orders.

Section 5: Brother Campbell’s background outside his activities in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War similarly qualifies him as an experienced and trusted leader.

Section 6: Our Camp is made notable by his presence and is honored to call him Brother and friend.

Section 7: In view of this we ask that each Brother of this department heartily support Brother Campbell and cast his vote for him at the National Encampment.
