ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Having been duly elected Camp Commander, it is with my sincerest appreciation for your confidence and support that I assume command of the Phil Sheridan Camp Number 4, for the 2006 term. I am pleased to assure all of you that my fellow Camp Officers and I will diligently work to ensure that the Camp does all that it can to bring honor to our forefathers who fought to preserve the Union, and to uphold the great traditions of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. My term shall be guided by the principles of our Order: Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty. Section 2: I hereby establish my residence at 3012 Lake Estates Court in the City of San José, County of Santa Clara, State of California, 95135, as the Camp Headquarters. Correspondence on any matters are most welcomed and encouraged at my email address, <danearl64@earthlink.net>, or at the Camp mailing address, 9110 Avezan Way, Gilroy, California 95020-7545. Section 3: Camp Brothers who were duly elected at the Camp meeting of 19 November 2005, and installed on 28 January 2005 by Department Commander Tad D. Campbell, PCC, are as follows: Commander - Br. LOYALTY DAY
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Brothers of Camp 4 and Sisters of Auxiliary 52 are reminded that today, May 1st is National Loyalty Day. This is a special day for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom. Section 2: Members of the Allied Orders as well as the general public are encouraged to observe National Loyalty Day by the flying of the U.S. Flag and with other appropriate ceremonies and activities. FLAG DAY
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: From our Nation's earliest days, Old Glory has stood for America's strength, unity, and liberty. During Flag Day and National Flag Week, we honor this enduring American symbol and celebrate the hope and ideals that it embodies. Section 2: During Flag Day and National Flag Week, we also honor the men and women who carry our flag into battle. Through their bravery and sacrifice, they help keep America safe and advance peace and freedom around the globe. By flying the flag, we express our gratitude to these heroes and all those who help ensure that the many blessings of our great country continue for generations to come. Section 3: I therefore remind Brothers of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4 and Sisters of the Dr. Mary E. Walker Auxiliary No. 52 that today, 14 June 2006 is Flag Day. I request that all Camp and Auxiliary members observe Flag Day and National Flag Week by flying the Stars and Stripes from their homes and other suitable places. Furthermore, I also call upon all Brothers and sisters to observe with pride and all due ceremony those days from Flag Day through Independence Day, also set aside by the Congress, as a time to honor America, to celebrate our heritage in public gatherings and activities, and to publicly recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Americans are blessed with the freedom made possible by the service and sacrifice of so many. On National POW/MIA Recognition Day, our entire Nation honors and pays special tribute to our prisoners of war and those who remain missing. I therefore call upon Brothers of Camp 4 and the Sisters of Auxiliary 52 to join me in saluting all American POWs and those missing in action who valiantly served our country on this National POW/MIA Recognition Day, 15 September 2006. CITIZENSHIP DAY
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Citizenship Day commemorates the formation and signing on September 17, 1787, of the Constitution and recognizes all who, by coming of age or by naturalization, have become citizens. The purpose of this holiday is to honor both, native-born and naturalized foreign-born citizens. It focuses on the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens, both native-born and naturalized. This day celebrates the Supreme Law of the Land as the oldest working Constitution in the world. Section 2: All Camp 4 Brothers and Auxiliary 52 Sisters are urged to make plans for the proper observance of Citizenship Day and for the complete instruction of citizens in their responsibilities and opportunities as citizens of the United States as we recognize Citizenship Day this 17th day of September 2006.
