ELECTION AND APPOINTMENTS
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Having been duly elected Camp Commander, it is with the sincerest appreciation for your confidence and support that I assume command of the Phil Sheridan Camp #4, for 2003 term. I can assure all of you that my fellow Camp Officers and I, will work tirelessly to ensure that the Camp does all that it can to bring honor to our forefathers who fought to preserve the Union, and to uphold the great traditions of our Organization. My tenure will be guided by the principles of our Order: Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty. I hereby establish my residence in the City of San José, County of Santa Clara, State of California as the Camp Headquarters. Correspondence on any matters are most welcomed and encouraged at my email address, , or at the Camp post office box, P.O. Box 664, Gilroy, CA 95021-0664. Section 2: Camp Brothers who were duly elected at the Camp meeting of 16 November 2002, and installed on 4 January 2003 are as follows: Commander - Br. Robert J. Kadlec Section 3: Camp Brothers are appointed as follows: Chaplain - Rev. Clark Seum Section 4: After consultation with the Camp Council and other officers, the location for our regular Camp meetings will forthwith be held at the American Legion Hall, Mission City Post 564, located at 120 Walsh Avenue, Santa Clara, California, effective immediately, unless a different location is otherwise designated. By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Effective immediately, and in accordance with § 2 of Article II of the Constitution of the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County, Inc. (UVC), as revised October 2002, the following Camp Brothers are appointed to serve as Delegates to the UVC: Robert J. Kadlec, Daniel M. Bunnell (PDC), and Dan Renfroe. Section 2: Effective immediately, and in accordance with § 2 of Article II of the Constitution of the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County, Inc. (UVC), as revised October 2002, the following Camp Brothers are appointed to serve as Alternate Delegates to the UVC: Tad D. Campbell (PCC), Daniel R. Earl, and Rick T. LaRosa. ENCAMPMENT ALTERNATE DELEGATE APPOINTMENT
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: Pursuant to § 2 of Article IX of the Camp Bylaws, I appoint Brother Richard Mayer an Alternate Delegate to the 2003 Encampment of the Department of California and Pacific. Section 2: Brother Robert J. Kadlec is hereby appointed Camp Eagle Scout Certificate Coordinator, effective immediately. DEPARTMENT ENCAMPMENT DELEGATE
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: The resignation of Brother Donald W. Pray as a Delegate to the 2003 Department Encampment has been received by the Camp Commander, recorded, and is effective immediately. Section 2: Camp Order No. 5, appointing Brother Richard Mayer an Alternate Delegate to the 2003 Department Encampment is hereby amended as follows in § 3 of this Order. Section 3: Pursuant to § 2 of Article IX of the Camp Bylaws, Brother Richard Mayer is appointed a full Delegate to the 2003 Encampment of the Department of California and Pacific. PATRIOT DAY
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: With the two-year anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon being this Thursday, Brothers are reminded to observe Patriot Day and a National Day of Prayer as proclaimed by President Bush. Section 2: Brothers are requested to fly their flags at half-staff and to observe a moment of silence to remember those who died during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Section 3: The Camp Charter is ordered draped in black during the Camp meeting on Saturday, 13 September 2003 and the Camp Chaplain directed to pay tribute to those who perished in the September 11, 2001 attacks during his opening prayer. APPOINTMENT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON ASUVCW
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: There is hereby created a Special Committee on the Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The purpose of the committee shall be to organize an Auxiliary to our Camp and to present to the ASUVCW National HQ ladies who are eligible and desire to become members of the Auxiliary. This Committee shall be disbanded upon its final report and in no case later than 15 February 2004. Section 2: Members of this Special Committee on the Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War shall be as follows: Tad D. Campbell (PCC), chair; Daniel M. Bunnell (PDC), David C. Schleeter, and Daniel R. Earl. CAMP SPECIAL ORDER No. 1 IN MEMORY OF
By the authority vested in me as Commander of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4, by the Camp Bylaws, Department of California and Pacific Bylaws, the National Constitution and Regulations, and National Policies, it is hereby ordered as follows: Section 1: WHEREAS, Frances Elizabeth "Frankie" (Foster) Appleton, wife of Camp Brother Francis George Appleton, maternal grandmother of immediate Past Camp Commander Tad D. Campbell, and mother-in-law to Brother Donald D. Campbell, was born at the home of her grandparents on 6 July 1923 in the town of Perry, Michigan, and passed away on Friday morning, 6 December 2002; she is survived by her husband, two daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends; and, WHEREAS, Frankie spent all of her early life in and around Perry, she graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1941 and on 16 January 1942 married Francis George Appleton at Perry, MI; and, WHEREAS, Frankie and George moved from Perry to Ypsilanti, Michigan and thence to Adrian, Michigan before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1960. After a brief return to Michigan they moved west again to Los Gatos, California, and finally settled in San José, California where they retired; and, WHEREAS, Frankie will be remembered for her love of family, generosity, humanity, and gentle spirit; her family and friends were her life, she will be deeply missed; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Brothers of the Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4 express their profound sympathy to the family and friends of Frankie Appleton. Section 2: In memory of Frankie Appleton, the Camp Charter shall be draped in black during the remaining days of the Month of January 2003.
