The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a patriotic and educational organization, similar to the Grand Army of the Republic. It was founded on November 12, 1881 and incorporated by Act of Congress August 20, 1954. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the legal heir to and representative of the Grand Army of the Republic.

The Gen. Alfred Pleasonton Camp No. 24 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) was organized in August 1999 and was named for General Alfred Pleasonton (1824-1897).

  • AREA: The Camp serves San Francisco (shared with Phil Sheridan Camp No. 4) and the East San Francisco Bay Area.
     
  • MEETINGS: The Camp generally meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, at Mountain Mike's Pizza, Castro Village Shopping Center, 20261 Patio Drive, Castro Valley, California (behind Safeway). A fellowship time is held immediately preceding the Camp meeting, from 6:30-7:00 p.m.

  • MEMORIAL DAY PARTICIPATION: San Francisco (Presidio), Redwood City (Union Cemetery), Hayward (Lonetree Cemetery), Oakland (Mountain View Cemetery).
     
  • DUES: Annual dues are $28.00, with a $10.00 initiation fee paid the first year.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a 501(c)(4) organization and is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as an organization to which tax deductible gifts can be made pursuant to Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
