The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a patriotic and educational organization, similar to the Grand Army of the Republic. It was founded on November 12, 1881 and incorporated by Act of Congress August 20, 1954. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the legal heir to and representative of the Grand Army of the Republic.

The General W. S. Rosecrans Camp No. 2 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War was named after an original Sons Camp which was organized March 3, 1898, and which in turn was named for Gen. William Starke Rosecrans (1819-1898). The current Camp was organized and reactivated on August 21, 1999.

  • AREA: The Camp serves Los Angeles County and shared with Sgt. William Pittenger Camp 21: Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties.
     
  • MEETINGS: Are currently being held at the Gold Crest Rebekah Lodge Hall in El Segundo due to the temporary closure of the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall for refurbishment. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of odd numbered months. The Camp participates in many other events and activities. Please contact the Commander or Secretary-Treasurer for more information.
     
  • NEWSLETTER: The Rosecrans Report is published bi-monthly in the even numbered months.
     
  • MEMORIAL DAY PARTICIPATION: Mountain View Cemetery, 2400 N. Fair Oaks Avenue in Altadena, California.
     
  • DUES: Annual dues are $35.00, with a $10.00 application fee paid the first year.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a 501(c)(4) organization and is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as an organization to which tax deductible gifts can be made pursuant to Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
