The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a patriotic and educational organization, similar to the Grand Army of the Republic. It was founded on November 12, 1881 and incorporated by Act of Congress August 20, 1954. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is the legal heir to and representative of the Grand Army of the Republic.

The Col. Roderick Matheson Camp No. 16 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) was established on June 3, 2003, and was named for Col. Roderick Nicol Matheson (1824-1862).

  • AREA: The Camp serves all of Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties, west of US 101.
     
  • MEETINGS: Held bi-monthly, date and place to be announced. Please contact the Camp Commander for details.
     
  • NEWSLETTER: To be announced.
     
  • MEMORIAL DAY PARTICIPATION: GAR Monument at Oak Mound Cemetery, 601 Piper Street, Healdsburg, CA at 11:00 am. A short tour to Col. Matheson's grave follows.
     
  • DUES: $41.00 with a one-time $15.00 initiation fee (a reduced rate is available for those with a financial hardship).

DONATIONS:
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a 501(c)(4) organization and is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as an organization to which tax deductible gifts can be made pursuant to Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
